JUSTINA JARUŠEVIČIŪTĖ
Biography
Justina Jaruševičiūtė is a Lithuanian composer based in Berlin, whose work sits at the intersection of contemporary classical music and chamber composition. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Sound Design and Engineering from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, a foundation that gave her both a technical grounding and a deep sensitivity to texture and sonic space.
After completing her studies, she spent two years managing concerts at a classical music concert hall in Klaipėda, working with musicians and composers from around the world and attending two or three concerts a week—an immersive education that would directly shape her compositional voice. In 2018 she relocated to Berlin, where she has since devoted herself entirely to composing.
Her first release, Rituals, a piece for strings inspired by Baltic mythology, folk music, and nature, arrived in February 2020. It announced a composer with a strong sense of place and cultural identity. A year later, she released her debut album Silhouettes on piano and coffee records, receiving positive responses from some of the most important contemporary classical music platforms. The album comprised ten pieces for string quartet. Its premiere concert was performed by Echo Collective in Potsdam in April 2022, and one of her pieces was performed by the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra in Lithuania in January 2021.
